Total Physical Responses (TPR)


v Definition of TPR
-         TPR is a method of teaching a language are arranged in the order of coordination, speech, and action. It attempts to teach language through physical (motor) activity.
-         TPR is also a method of teaching a language using physical movement.
-         TPR is also say a method of teaching second language.
This method was developed by Prof. Dr. James J Asher. He is a professor of Physicalogy in San Jose California on 1960’s.
v The Goal of TPR
-         The student will be getting up out of their chairs and moving around.
-         To reduction of stress as the key to successful language acquisition.
-         TPR can complement normal classes by enhancing student motivation and confidant.
v The Characteristics of TPR
-         Phase of the lesson is one of modeling, the instructor issues command to a few students, than perfoms the actions with them.
-         Phase is the same students demonstrate it, they can understand the command by their performing alone.
